In the spring of 2000, Marty began studying wine while working at the Olive Garden restaurant. In 2002, he was chosen to
be an OG wine ambassador. As a wine ambassador he toured Rocca della Macie, Cavit and Bertani wineries and
experienced the Italian culture and passion for life, food and wine. When he came back, he shared this passion with his
family, friends and the Olive Garden restaurants in the metroplex.
In the Spring of 2003, Jerry Delaney of Delaney Vineyards invited The OG staff from Northwest Hwy & I-35 to tour his
vineyards. Around this time, Marty found Su Vino Winery on Main Street in Grapevine. Su Vino Winery was the first
winery in Texas where you can make and bottle your own wine. Marty & Lori Phinney jumped on this new experience to
include it with our trips to Delaney Vineyards. Lori tagged these trips Vino Ventures (TM). The OG staff welcomed the
chance to get out and see the grapes growing on the vines and making their our own wine which was labeled Mi Vino (TM).
The OG staff along with and a many others from around the metroplex went on several Vino Ventures over the next two
years.
During our trips to Delaney Vineyards we met Terry Johnson, who was our tour guide. Terry joined Wineguy.org and put
together our Flagship Vino Ventures at very cool places like Off The Vine's Wine Bar and Cru Wine Bar.
Now, Marty, Lori and Terry have formed Wineguy.org into a Texas Nonprofit Corporation specializing in helping you
learn more about wine. We are working on our application for 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Status with the IRS. We hope you
enjoy the wine and food websites found here on Wineguy.org as much as we enjoy wine
